Engine | Original 1275cc - Bored out to 1310cc, Downton tuned, Kent 643 cam, lightened flywheel, twin HS4s, Cooper freeflow, K&Ns, competition plugs, 11.75:1 C/R producing 92bhp with 74 at the wheels. |
Suspension, brakes, etc | Standard brakes all round, except uprated front pads. Firestone 5J x 10 period alloys with Dunlop 165 70 x 10 tyres. Lowered 1/2" and added adjustable camber kit. Front camber set to +1.5 and rear to 0, front and rear tracking optimal. |
Interior | Standard navy colour, Paddy Hopkirk bucket recliners, Motolita leather 12" steering wheel, Paddy Hopkirk throttle extention. |
Condition | Excellent example of a MKIII S, near original road going condition. Underwent a complete restoration in 1992 by previous owner. |
History | First registered on 26th May 1971, in Kent, then on to London, through several owners until the rot set in. The previous owner found it in 1990 painted red in Bedford and stripped then restored to it's former glory. |
Forthcoming events | Will definately be at Beaulieu and IMM and any other events as time allows. |
Recent work | Complete engine rebuild, new Hepolite pistons, rebore to 1310, balanced and rebuilt. Fitted Rimflow valves, skimmed head, then taken for Dyno tune at Airey Racing, Hampshire, where it was tweaked and produced 92bhp at 5500rpm. Gearbox also rebuilt at the same time. Externally almost standard. |
